FEINKOŠT 2026 (Eliška Jirásková, Alina Cyranek, Pavel Mozhar, Šárka Leinweberová, Akira Kawasaki, Art Collective NEOZOON, Anastasiia Bonadyha, 2026, Germany, Czechia, Ukraine, 77 mins)

The seven short documentaries in the 2026 Czech-German film tour follow people trying to find their place in an increasingly fast-paced and demanding world. Faced with pressure to succeed, social expectations and personal challenges, they search for their own path, a sense of belonging and the freedom to be themselves. The Czech films tell the stories of men who find comfort in bodybuilding, an air traffic controller searching for her own identity, and a young man navigating everyday life in war-torn Nikopol. The German films explore competition and ambition, the hopes and uncertainties of looking for work, the limits of obedience and conformity, and the ways in which the past continues to shape our lives. Together, the seven films create a multifaceted portrait of vulnerability and resilience, memory and desire – revealing what connects us even in uncertain times.

Better Man / Ein besserer Mensch (Eliška Jirásková, Czech Republic, 2025, 6 min)

The animated documentary Better Man explores the phenomenon of strength training and men’s relationship with their own bodies. Based on interviews with men who have overcome personal trauma through training, the film examines the social significance of developing a positive relationship with one’s body.

JUGGERNAUT (Art Collective NEOZOON, Germany, 2026, 9 min)

JUGGERNAUT is an experimental film collage that questions the competitive spirit of capitalist societies and the male desire for superiority. Men compete against one another in an endless series of contests, driven by the desire to always be the best.

Died Unnoticed / Unbemerkt verstorben (Alina Cyranek, Germany, 2026, 7 min)

The belongings in the apartment of a person who died alone can reveal a great deal about their life. Their personal possessions remain untouched until a cleaning team arrives, packs everything into bags, clears the apartment, and the final traces of that person’s life disappear forever.

With a Kind Regard / Mit einem freundlichen Gruß (Pavel Mozhar, Germany, 2026, 14 min)

Dust-covered job applications found in an abandoned former GDR factory tell the story of one generation’s living conditions and memories. Their efforts to find a place in the free-market economy reveal their needs, fears, and uncertainties.

When the Clouds Are Moving / Wenn sich die Wolken bewegen (Šárka Leinweberová, Czech Republic, 2025, 17 min)

Who am I when all the lights go out and the system stops providing direction? The film is an intimate, meditative portrait of air traffic controller Olga.

Obey, Obey (Akira Kawasaki, Germany, 2025, 4 min)

A tutorial on how to perfectly master the aesthetics of the “obedient Japanese schoolgirl.”

Apocalypse Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, and the Day After Tomorrow / Apokalypse Gestern, Heute, Morgen und Übermorgen (Anastasiia Bonadyha, Czech Republic / Ukraine, 2025, 20 min)

Through the story of Bohdan, an ordinary man living in Nikopol, the director explores why some people choose to remain in their homeland despite the reality of living through war every day.
