A Silent Story

Filmmaker Anders Skovbjerg Jepsen documents the years-long progress of confronting his trauma from being sexually abused in his youth by a childhood friend, Peter. He reaches out to Peter and tries to set up formal meetings to open up conversations about their past, but this proves more difficult than it initially seems. Home videos, personal anecdotes, and moments with his loved ones paint a complete picture of Anders’ understanding of his relationships. By the end, the monstrous image of Peter that Anders has internalized becomes tamer, as their meetings make the past seem more tangible. Despite the weight of confronting these memories, Anders looks forward to moving on.
