Grand Prize (Anja Koprivšek, 2024, Croatia, 46 mins)

In Croatia, where traditional norms still shape everyday life, the underground ballroom scene becomes a rare space of freedom for LGBTQ performers. Valentina (29), an experienced dancer, navigates daily challenges while staying true to her art. Teo (21), a trans man at the start of his transition, seeks connection and community. When their paths cross, a deep relationship forms—Valentina becomes Teo’s mentor and support, while Teo helps her reconnect with long-buried emotions. Grand Prize is an intimate portrait of identity, resilience, and chosen family within the unique world of ballroom, where expression through dance offers both liberation and transformation.
